Interference By Michelle Berry ECW Press 277 pp; $18.95

The popular Canadian imagination persists in its fascination with both rural and urban ways of life, and so the suburbs get short shrift in our art. Even Statistics Canada has a hard time identifying how many of us live in suburban environments; a 2011 report states “the concepts of suburb and city are seldom understood in the same way by everyone and are sometimes used very loosely.”
